12 Nazajutrz, gdy wyszli oni z Betanii, uczuł głód. 13 A widząc z daleka drzewo figowe, okryte liśćmi, podszedł ku niemu zobaczyć, czy nie znajdzie czegoś na nim. Lecz przyszedłszy bliżej, nie znalazł nic prócz liści, gdyż nie był to czas na figi. 14 Wtedy rzekł do drzewa: «Niech nikt nigdy nie je owocu z ciebie!» Słyszeli to Jego uczniowie.  M
